Kunzea oil
(Kunzea ambigua)

Kunzea has a clean, spicy, and woodsy aroma. My cousin describes it as a good, clean, fresh scent…almost piney…but not.

It has comparable properties and uses to Tea Tree oil but offers a more pleasant aroma and milder feel when applied topically.

A native shrub that grows wild along the southern coast of Australia and Tasmania, kunzea was used for centuries by native cultures. The kunzea plant, with its bulbous tops and whimsical blossoms, is commonly referred to as “white cloud.” Its white and pink flowers are found growing in sandy soils along coastal regions and often attract native insects, birds, and small animals.

Produced from the steam distillation of the leaves and green branchlets, Kunzea essential oil offers a spicy, woodsy aroma to uplift any environment. With properties that help soothe fatigued muscles and work to reduce the appearance of blemishes when applied topically, Kunzea will be a new household staple.

Kunzea Essential Oil is particularly helpful when incorporated into my personal blends for muscular and arthritic pain.
I see significant potential for use of Kunzea Essential Oil in emotional and physical applications. Robbi Zeck, ND, writes that Kunzea Essential Oil “helps to defuse deep emotional pain that has grown solid as a result of suppression, creating internal blocks in the body’s meridian system.” [Robbi Zeck, ND, The Blossoming Heart: Aromatherapy for Healing and Transformation (Victoria, Australia: Aroma Tours, 2008), 88.]
